As is the case with most trends, the wild and ever growing popularity of the denim legging has yielded both good and bad fashion results. The good thing is the most obvious: we can all have our “skinnies” and eat, too. I love the idea of achieving the ultra sleek, of the moment look of skinny jeans without having to pour myself into a rigid, unforgiving denim mold. I also can get used to looking great while avoiding the discomfort that denim can at times be known for. The bad thing is that… Well, some of the denim leggings I’ve seen are just… Bad. A navy blue pair of leggings are not equal to nor should they be able to pass as denim leggings. As for some of the others I’ve come across, they tend to lack the important details such as stitching and rivets that make a pair of jeans more than just a few sturdy yards of heavy duty cotton.
After searching high and low for a pair of denim leggings I could be proud of, I came across this pair from AG Adriano Goldschmied. They are fabulous, and in my opinion the very best denim leggings out there! The Tights Denim Legging by AG in the clean, dark Rosebud wash are anything but a pair of navy blue leggings trying to pass themselves off as a sexy pair of skinnies. They actually come deceptively close to being the real deal. They are a sort of optical illusion, complete with faux front pockets and fly, rivets, and back pockets that feature the classic AG style embroidery. I absolutely love them.
